Small house plants

I apologize for the lack of content as of late, which is mostly due to work and school consuming my time. I am about to go on vacation to Grand Cayman island (I will take as many photographs as possible) and am not sure if I will continue to blog when I return throughout the rest of the month of December. If not, I hope you have a wonderful holiday and I will be back in the new year.

Best wishes,
Jordan

Are you hydrated? If not, have a glass of water.

Have you eaten in the past three hours? If not, get some foodsomething with protein, not simple carbs. Perhaps some nuts or hummus?

Have you showered in the past day? If not, take a shower right now.

If daytime: are you dressed? If not, put on clean clothes that aren't pajamas. Give yourself permission to wear something special, whether it's a funny t-shirt or a pretty dress.

If nighttime: are you sleepy and fatigued but resisting to sleep? Put on pajamas, make yourself cozy in bed with a teddy bear and the sound of falling rain, and close your eyes for fifteen minutes—no electronic screens allowed. If you're still awake after that, you can get up again; no pressure.

Have you stretched your legs in the past day? If not, do so right now. If you don't have the spoons for a run or trip to the gym, just walk around the block, then keep walking as long as you please. If the weather's crap, drive to a big box store (e.g. Target) and go on a brisk walk through the aisles you normally skip.

Have you said something nice to someone in the past day? Do so, whether online or in person. Make it genuine; wait until you see something really wonderful about someone, and then tell them about it.

Have you moved your body to music in the past day? If not, do so—jog for the length of an EDM song at your favorite BPM, or just dance around the room for the length of an upbeat song.

Have you cuddled a living being in the past two days? If not, do so. Don't be afraid to ask for hugs from friends or friends' pets. Most of them will enjoy the cuddles too; you're not imposing on them.

Do you feel ineffective? Pause right now and get something small completed, whether it's responding to an email, loading up the dishwasher, or packing your gym bag for your next trip. Good job!

Do you feel unattractive? Take a goddamn selfie. Your friends will remind you how great you look, and you'll fight society's restrictions on what beauty can look like.

Do you feel paralyzed by indecision? Give yourself ten minutes to sit back and figure out a game plan for the day. If a particular decision or problem is still being a roadblock, simply set it aside for now, and pick something else that seems doable. Right now, the important part is to break through that stasis even if it means doing something trivial.

Have you seen a therapist in the past few days? If not, hang on until your next therapy visit and talk through things then.

Have you been over-exerting yourself lately—physically, emotionally, socially, or intellectually? That can take a toll that lingers for days. Give yourself a break in that area, whether it's physical rest, taking time alone, or relaxing with some silly entertainment.

Have you waited a week? Sometimes our perception of life is skewed, and we can't even tell that we're not thinking clearly, and there's no obvious external cause. It happens. Keep yourself going for a full week, whatever it takes, and see if you still feel the same way then.

You've made it this far, and you will make it through. You are stronger than you think.

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel 2X Volume Topcoat

Overview
+ Thick formula with a lacquer-like finish
+ Large squared brush for smooth application
+ Extends a perfect manicure for over 5 days
+ Can last up to 14 days when paired with Miracle Gel Nail Polish
+ Only $8 at the local drugstore
- Relatively long drying time compared to other top coats

After many years of mild frustration due to unsightly chipped manicures, my nail polish prayers have finally been answered. Recently I picked up the somewhat new Sally Hansen Miracle Gel 2X Volume Top Coat on a whim at the drugstore not knowing that it would become one of my favorite nail products that I have ever tried. From what I have read online, the bottle I bought contains the new formulation which can best be described as a UV-less gel lacquer. As I tend to go a little heavy on my top coat, it left a thick, shiny layer that looked very similar to the finish of a traditional gel manicure.

Although I experienced the inevitable slight wear at the tips, after applying one coat of the Miracle Gel and letting it dry for a good half hour, it kept my polish in tact for a solid five days. Between work and general tasks around the house, I was impressed with how well it protected my nails as I usually see at least one chip by day three. The only downfall could be the drying time as it is a more viscous formula, however it is definitely worth the wait for the extended wear.

I've found that growing up means being honest. About what I want. What I need. What I feel. Who I am.
If you ever feel like you are stuck with whatever choices you make when you're young, please remember that: Van Gogh didn't start painting until his 20′s, Alan Rickman got his first movie role at age 46, Kentucky Fried Chicken was launched when Colonel Sanders was 65, Charles Darwin was going to be a preacher, Mick Jagger studied accounting and finance, J.K. Rowling was 32 when Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was published.

People tell me I'm lucky. I'm like, you don't even know what I had to go through to get here.

My 20's aren't my selfish years. My 20's are my hustle decade. Finish school, get money, pay back my loans, establish myself, work hard to create the foundation of a good life so that I can enjoy what's coming next. Like yes, I'd love to backpack across India or something, but I'm broke! I have bills! I could quit my job, take my meager savings and go on a 2 month trip, and then what? No job, no home cause I got kicked out for not paying rent, lmao. Enough. Maybe your 20's were the fun-time years decades ago but not anymore. Don't feel like you're wasting your life because you're not hitchhiking in Europe or something. You're doing fine. You're doing what you can, and that's all that matters.

You ask what I have done with my life. Why I am 22 with so many unfinished selves. So many futures I could not commit to. But you don't know how much of my time has been spent keeping myself alive.

A self-proclaimed avid fan of Firmoo, I currently own a small collection with a few previously sent for me to try and others that I have purchased with my hard earned coins. When I was most recently browsing the sit, this model in particular caught my eye (*wink*) because of the bright indigo color of the frames and the rainbow stripes on the inside of the temples. When I received them in the mail the shade was not as vibrant as shown on the website, but still a pretty shade of deep blue. I was initially hesitant about ordering this shape since I have a rounded face, but because they are on the larger side they compliment me quite well.

For the price I am again very impressed with the quality of these eyeglasses. The weight is light so they feel comfortable to wear all day without sliding down the bridge of my nose or causing headaches. This pair came with the 1.5 index stock lenses which are suitable for my sight, however there are many additional upgrades for those with more complex prescriptions or those who wish to further customize their pair.

If you are new to Firmoo, they offer an easy to follow, step-by-step process to order your exact prescription, frame size, and lens selections in a matter of minutes. For further questions I have utilized their customer service a few times in the past and have always had a warm, pleasant experience with whomever I spoke with. There are countless options to choose from for all vision needs, and with a constantly stocked Daily New page you are sure to find the right specs for you.

Do keep in mind that many of the frames run big and so it is essential to have your current pupillary distance measured by your optometrist. Looking up customer photos or using the virtual try on feature can also be helpful in selecting the best-fitting pair for your face shape. Another tip would be to keep the cleaning cloth that comes with the case as it is made from a fabric that thoroughly cleans these type of lenses.

As the folks at Firmoo are always so generous, all new customers can receive 15% off of their first pair.

Cute Planner Supplies

Submerging wholly into the paper planner craze was natural for me as I am an avid organizer and complete sucker for cute stationary. At first it can seem dizzily overwhelming as there are an endless amount of supplies available to decorate with; but starting out with a list of the basics can help narrow down the vast amount of choices. It might seem like a silly, overpriced hobby (which is partly true), but maintaining a planner can be an effective way to boost motivation and reduce stress by keeping all of the details of life in order and in one compact place.

Pick Your Planner

If you don't yet have a paper planner, they can be found at many locations like Target, gift or craft stores, and of course online. A few trendy names at the moment include Filofax, kikki.K, Erin Condren, Midori, Dokibook, and Webster's Pages. You can also make your own using blank notebooks, binders, or folders. There are options available in all sizes and price ranges, and your individual preferences will rule which style of planner you choose and how you decide to fully customize it.

Purchase Materials

The essential planner supplies include inserts and something to write with, however there are tons of stationary items that can be used for decoration, personalization, and further organization.. A beginners list would include items such as:

Writing utensils ~ pens, pencils, highlighters, markers
Paper ~ inserts, note pads, cards, calendars, notebooks
Adhesives ~ stickers, washi tapes, sticky notes, tabs, page flags
Accessories ~ dividers, dashboards, pouches, folders, paper clips, stamps, ink
Other ~ hole punch, scissors, ruler, calculator, glue

Current Favorites

Acroball pens
Graph paper
Moleskin notebooks
Small stickers
6-hole punch
Mini note cards
Large sticker pouch
Pocket and personal sizes

I find most of my planner accessories on Etsy, but there are many standing craft stores and online retailers that sell unique supplies as well. These are the top shops that I purchase from or are on my favorites list:

Alicemolds ~ Asian stationary
BobbyTin ~ Asian stationary
Ccsharetape ~ washi tape
Coffeeblush ~ stamps
Crossbow Printables ~ paper
Heartissimo ~ dashboards
Kandeez Kupcakez ~ Asian stationary
KawaiiSugarNSpice ~ accessories
Kiddy Qualia ~ paper
Nooks and Annies ~ stickers
Oh So Fawn ~ stickers
PapergeekMY ~ stationary
PeacefulMind Design ~ stickers
Mushypinkstrawberryz ~ stationary
Planner Mania ~ stickers
Public Milk ~ washi tape
Stickerlovers ~ Asian stationary
StickWithMe Shop ~ stickers
Sweet Kawaii Design ~ stickers
The Book Nook Patch ~ paper clips
The Princess Paperie ~ accessories
Vintage Gypsy Road ~ stickers
Violet Le Beaux ~ stickers

Some online shops sell downloadable versions of their stickers which can be an affordable alternative to purchasing printed sheets. If you like to decorate heavily or with a seasonal theme, you can subscribe to monthly kits to receive a special (and usually discounted) package designed to complete a full month of coordinated planning.

Find Inspiration

If you have a lot of information to organize and don't know how exactly you want to set your layouts, there are many ideas available on YouTube, Pinterest, Tumblr, Instagram, and a simple Google search. Known as the planner community, many people photograph their spreads and share design ideas to pull inspiration from. If you are creative and have the extra time, it is possible to create some adorable DIY accessories too.

I think we've all just got to accept that there are holes in us. That we were born full and they appeared over time. That the universe takes things back because it needs to. Maybe there isn't another reason than that. We spend so much of our lives trying to fill these voids. We won't look at our own and ignore the ones in each other. Buy more, drink more, watch more. One day you're going to have to stop pretending they aren't there. If you really want to live, you've got to stop trying to analyze why these holes exist and stop trying to figure out how to make them shrink. Roll the windows down when you're driving and let the wind blow through them. Breathe and let the world keep spinning.

I still remember you as a little girl who overwaters plants because she doesn't know when to stop giving.

So I perversely circle the late stars, drowsier and drowsier, sleepily longing for something.

I think of rivers, of tides. Forests and water gushing out. Rain and lightening. Rocks and shadows. All of these are in me.

Oh Love is a journey with water and stars, with drowning air and storms of flour, Love is a clash of lightnings, two bodies subdued by one honey.

I've always been a bag lady of sorts. I find comfort in toting around items that I may use or wish to have in my travels, which are all usually contained in a medium to large sized satchel. On the average trip outside the house to go to work or run errands, I am the type of gal who likes to carry a selection of handy things to freshen up with if needed.

At the moment I have a few different pouches that I use to organize small products and make rummaging through my belongings a little bit easier. In one are a few of my essential feminine supplies which includes baby wipes, spare tampons, pills, and my new favorite Always Xtra Protection Long Dailies. They are a nice size for my personal preference and keep me feeling oh-so fresh on seemingly endless days. I also love how absorbent they are and how well they adhere; the perfect pad to wear while running around town or during a hectic shift.

Floating around in the main part of my bag is a seasonally-fitting body spray for a quick spritz, a pair of eyeglasses to wear at work and while driving, a moisturizing hand lotion and sanitizer, and a filling snack bar for a convenient pick-me-up. In another smaller pouch is most of my makeup favorites and products for touch-ups which includes a pressed powder, brown eyeliner, tweezers, lip balm, and bobby pins. I keep track of my daily to-do lists and general life plans in my pocket size kikki.K planner which is small enough to tuck in right before I leave the house.

While it is totally not necessary to bring along a host of objects wherever you go, it can help to look and feel your best throughout a long, busy schedule. I find by taking a couple minutes to touch up and keep fresh and clean with a just few tools and Always Liners I can feel more effortlessly confident which in turn reflects some sparkling, positive energy on my day.

Woke in cool of morning with that usual dazed feeling, as if crawling out from a spider's web, fought upright, and revived over coffee and bananas with milk and sugar. Ted shopped for fish, bread and wine while I dressed: black linen skirt, white jersey, red belt and polka-dotted scarf to be bright and wifely for Alicante. We walked down the street, threading through fresh horse manure and the delicate peppering of goat droppings; sky blue and clear; mountains purply and cloudy-secret through favorite vista of knife-bladed green palm fronds. Old El Greco madman, thin, cadaverous, in faded red and white striped shirt, sitting as usual by water faucet. Donkey cart loading barrel of fresh water and four jugs full. Warm fresh bread smells from panaderia.

Walked past watermelon shop and wine shop to outskirts of town to begin hitching to Alicante. Bay mild blue, streaked with glassy patches of calm; boats drawn up along shore; sun beginning to heat up.

Although I haven't spent a ton of time outdoors this summer between work and starting classes, if there is a blank space in my schedule I try to go out and get some fresh air whether it's strolling around the yard with the dogs or tending to the vegetable garden. In terms of protecting my skin from the sun, I feel as though I take it fairly seriously in hopes that I can preserve what I have now for as long as possible. and to simply help my fussy skin look its best. My collection of lotions and potions stashed around the house is quite excessive; however, these four products have been my routine summer staples of the last few months.

Intelligence without ambition is a bird without wings.

Put coconut oil in your hair, exercise, take hot showers, massage lotion into your skin, eat food that makes you feel good, stretch, lay around bed, and listen to music that makes you feel happy. Just do you.

Every day I discover more and more beautiful things. It's enough to drive one mad. I have such a desire to do everything, my head is bursting with it.

Raise your words, not voice. It is rain that grows flowers, not thunder.

It's hopeless to "get life" if you don't keep notebooks.

Effort won't betray you.

In My Makeup Bag Spring 2015

So far spring has been full of many wonderful things, including pretty makeup. The beauty bag I have been carrying around with me is full of my favorite products of the season, both brand new and cult classic.

MAC Stereo Rose Mineralize Skinfinish is an effortlessly beautiful highlighting powder that creates a very soft, shimmering glow to the skin. I lightly apply it with the e.l.f. Small Stipple Brush to the tops of the cheekbones, brows, as well as the cupid's bow to complete a look.

I picked up the Covergirl Brow & Eye Makers Pencil in Soft Brown on clearance and it has since become a staple in my improved 'quick brow' routine. I run it through each brow to fill in any bare spots and draw in a more defined tail. It blends well with my naturally dark hair color and the almost waxy texture stays put all day long. To set the brows, I sometimes apply a coat of the RapidBrow Eyebrow Enhancing Serum to comb the hairs upwards and create a fuller look.

Maybelline's Master Kajal Cream Kohl Eyeliner in Midnight Brown has been my go-to liner as it is forgiving on sleepy mornings and makes my light brown eyes just pop. I will typically draw on a subtle cat eye then top it with some matching eye shadow using a sharp angled brush.

In My Makeup Bag Spring 2015

The newest mascara I am using at the moment has easily become one of my top drugstore favorites. Rimmel London's Scandaleyes Retro Glam in Extreme Black has a dense hourglass applicator that creates thick, Twiggy-esque lashes. It doesn't flake and with one coat adds a lot of drama, which for me really opens up my eyes and gives a flirty, doe-eyed look.

With inspiration from the lovely flowers and plants that are blossoming everywhere, colors like pastel mint and baby pink have been painted on my nails since March. I'm loving the muted Wet n Wild Megalast Salon Nail Color in Retro Mint as well as the baby soft Covergirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss in Totally Tulip.

The most used face product in my collection has been the Dr.Jart+ BB Dis-A-Pore Beauty Balm which replaced all my foundations since the weather began to warm up. It feels ultra light and covers any redness and all pores while maintaining a matte finish throughout the day. I will then dust on a little bit of the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder with the e.l.f. Complexion Brush to set the BB cream and provide more coverage.

For daily lip products, I keep it natural with either an EOS lip balm or a nude gloss like Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush Flavored Gloss in Pink Goes Pop to add a tint of color. If I'm in the mood to wear a lipstick, I'll reach for the dark peach Wet N Wild Megalast Lipstick in Sweet Cream, or the medium rose Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick in 104

What are your favorite spring makeup products?

Red naturally curly hair

As anyone with naturally curly hair knows, it can take years to master the ultimate routine that suits your unique hair type and curl pattern. I myself have been through many painstaking months of experimentation with crunchy gels, limp styles, poufy frizz, and the many more woes that come with the territory of natural texture. Needless to say, I am always lurking around the internet, hunting for some new, perhaps radical, but overall better techniques. Recently I was casually wading through a sea of videos on YouTube to find tips from others on how they care for their hair and what products and methods worked well for them. I somehow stumbled upon the user DianasBeauty and her video called Big Curly Hair Routine which has since completely changed the way I treat and style my hair. Her tutorial wasn't completely revolutionary in theory, however I hadn't ever thought about changing up my techniques in those particular ways, and little did I know it would be the best thing that I have ever done for my these unruly locks of mine. I feel like I finally have a routine down that creates the best potential for my 3B curls to blossom into the beauties they are, and were all along. All curls are created differently, but this process works wonders for me and provides relatively standard results to fit my current (somewhat busy and carefree) lifestyle.

Springtime by Claude Monet
Springtime by Claude Monet

In a word, I am absolutely discouraged, not seeing, not hoping in any future...I feel all too well the void that is being made around me.

You wake up every morning to fight the same demons that left you so tired the night before, and that, my love, is bravery.

1 PM: I need to sleep.
1 AM: I need to figure out what to do with my life.

She reminded me of crisp spring mornings and sticky melted honey on toast. Both of which, I found utterly irresistible.

Have you ever traveled to a mountainous part of the world when it was cloudy and rainy? You look out your windows and you can see almost nothing but the ground. Then the rain stops and the clouds part and you catch your breath because there, towering right over you, is this magnificent peak. But a couple of hours later the clouds roll in and it has vanished, and you don't see it again for a good while. This is what it is like to get to know a Christian. You have an old self and a new self. The old self is crippled with anxieties, the need to prove yourself, bad habits you can't break, and many besetting sins and entrenched character flaws. The new self is still you, but you liberated from all your sins and flaws. This new self is always a work in progress, and sometimes the clouds of the old self make it almost completely invisible. But sometimes the clouds really part, and you see the wisdom, courage, and love of which you are capable. It's a glimpse of where you are going.

Work until your eyes are tired and head is heavy, and keep working even after that. Take a shower, wash off the day. Drink a glass of water. Make the room dark. Lie down and close your eyes. Notice the silence. Notice your heart. Still beating. Still fighting. You made it, after all. You made it, another day. And you can make it one more. You're doing just fine. You're doing fine. I'm doing just fine.

Bright bedroom

Lay on the floor of your shower until you can breathe again. Water will always love your skin.

Start writing with the intention of filling up one page. Write until your pen stops working.

Reread a book that once made you cry. Learn something new on every page. Notice how different chapters made you sad. Notice how the book didn't change and grow; you did.

Sleep with your windows open. You can hear both the rain and the boys drunkenly singing Frank Sinatra on their deck. Both are equally good.

Don't forget that honey will always taste sweet, but the best way to eat it is off your fingers, laughing.

Remember that, sometimes, getting out of bed is enough.

Goodwill Thrift Store Homeware Haul
Goodwill Thrift Store Homeware Haul

A few weeks ago I took a break from my current house project of painting the kitchen table to make a trip into town to do a couple errands and check out the Sunday sales at Goodwill. I didn't find much in the clothing department except for a Target brand crop top for a buck, but I as I ventured across the store there were a few half off decor items that caught my eye.

The copper pineapple is among one of my favorite finds from the trip as it's so bright and will look adorable hanging somewhere in the kitchen. I thought the little items would fit in nicely in the new curio cabinet my boyfriend built in the living room, or placed on the shelf above my vanity. I'm still not quite sure what the worn wooden basket is meant for, but I thought I would use it for a catch-all for coupons or any small papers floating around the kitchen.

The mirrored tray was something I contemplated buying as there were some chips and cracks around the edges and the glass was not in flawless condition, but I couldn't resist the $4 price tag after my half off coupon. To salvage such a great piece, I decided to enhance its shabby state by painting the top with white latex house paint to cover up some of the blemishes. After a few thin coats and about a day of drying time, I hand sanded the corners and sides with a light grit sandpaper to scratch off some of the paint until it had a worn, authentically vintage look.

Have you been thrifting lately?

Wheat Field with Cypresses by Vincent Van Gogh

Do not tell everyone your story. You will only end up feeling more rejected. People cannot give you what you long for in your heart. The more you expect from people's response to your experience of abandonment, the more you will feel exposed to ridicule.

If ever someone tries to convince you that there is only one path to success, just remind yourself that Miuccia Prada earned a PhD in political science, then became a mime, then a member of the Italian communist party, then a women's rights activist, then became one of the world's most iconic designers, then opened an art gallery, and is now the ninth richest woman in the world.

Isn't it cool that one day you're going to have little people running around your house that will be half you and have the person you love?

Maybe it's brave to quit your job to go paint in Peru for a year, but it's also brace to work two jobs to help pay for your mom's medical bills. It's smart to stay at the law firm until your loans are paid off. It's OK to only tolerate your job but love your hobbies, because as soon as your passions are turned into careers, you risk turning love into work.
So you don't love your job-who gives a shit?
Are you happy with yourself? Are you happy with the way you treat people? Are you happy with your life?

Vincent Van Gogh used to eat yellow paint because he thought it would get the happiness inside him. Many people thought he was mad and stupid for doing so because the paint was toxic, never mind that it was obvious that eating paint couldn't possibly have any direct correlation to one's happiness, but I never saw that. If you were so unhappy that even the maddest ideas could possibly work, like painting the walls of your internal organs yellow, then you are going to do it. It's really no different than falling in love or taking drugs. There is a greater risk of getting your heart broken or overdosing, but people still do it everyday because there was always that chance it could make things better. Everyone has their yellow paint.

Dr.Jart+ Skincare Products Overview & Reviews

A few months back I was approached by leading Korean skincare brand Dr. Jart+ to try out a few products of my choice. Not knowing much about this company, I browsed through their full collection on the Sephora website and was immediately attracted to their simplistic aesthetic, medicinal background, and the unique range of botanical ingredients they use. Overall, all of the products that I tested were wonderful, effective, and of great quality for reasonable prices. I plan to repurchase a few of them as well as dive into more of their dermatology inspired collections when I'm in the market for new skincare.

Top Tips on Shopping for Denim

Find your fit

The most important part of selecting a perfect pair of jeans is to be aware of your body shape and what suits it best. Some resources online such as fit guides and size charts are helpful, however the most effective way to know what looks good on your body is to be measured or to try on various types (bootcut, flares, low rise, etc.) in a store. If you have an idea of the right style you should be looking for, what could be a frustrating experience made that much easier, especially when shopping online.

Quality over quantity

Investing in designer or high quality jeans is a smart way to make your money go further. It may seem overwhelming at first to spend so much cash on one pair of pants, however they will typically last longer and be more durable, thus having to be replaced less often. One of the top brands for denim jeans for women is True Religion which offers a wide variety of super trendy collections as well as classics fits for the modern fashionista.

Mix and match

There are so many styles when it comes to this staple that the outfit options are endless. There's your typical distressed or ripped jeans for that edgy look, dyed or printed ones for a splash of personality, or even patchwork and acid-washed for a pop culture throwback. It's also a nice idea to fill your closet with some everyday essentials like solid black or white straight leg jeans which can be matched with almost any top, including blue denim, for a chic look.

When in doubt, go simple

If you are in the market for some new denim and don't know which option to go with, you can truly never go wrong with a dark wash skinny jean. It looks great on every single body shape and can be styled in countless ways from formal to casual for ultimate versatility. Right now the super tight, legging style is on trend and fortunately figure flattering for all sizes and comfortable as well.

What type of denim do you wear?

March 03, 2015

Last month I ordered this fragrance on a whim as a part of a sale at Ulta and have been delightfully misting myself with it everyday since. Made with pure moringa extract and fair trade essence from sugarcane, The Body Shop's values and ethical practices are present with this product. Described as having a delicate, white floral scent that is light and fresh, Moringa is the ultimate spring/summer daytime fragrance with a unique profile different than your typical flowery body mist. When I waft it under my nose, I first catch the full floral notes and the sweet femininity it has which then transitions into an almost dated, 'what a 90's teen would wear' vibe. The scent doesn't last but a couple of hours on the skin, however layering it with lotion or spritzing directly on fabric to wear or sleep in extends the potency. If you like the appeal of a frilly, sugary, yet refreshing scent to toss in your handbag as a pick-me-up then give this bottle a try.

I find a sentimental value to the Moringa fragrance as it is similar to a candle I once made in my Aunt's beauty laboratory that we dyed pastel pink, labeled with butterflies, and called Melissa. It takes me back to those almost spiritual summer days in my hometown listening to 70's classics and sipping on Gevalia coffee while enjoying her warm company.

Eat food from farmers markets.
Drink good tea each morning.
Read books that make you feel.
Paint, even if you're awful.
Write, even when you have nothing to say.
Sit in the fresh air outside.
Go on hikes.
Swim in lakes and wade in streams.
Sleep as long as you need.
Work hard at what you love.
Work hard at what you hate.
Love unconditionally and wholeheartedly.

Living in Michigan where we have been experiencing temperatures so cold that nomadic Alaskans would be sympathetic, I find that staying stylish here in the harsh elements can sometimes be an afterthought. While my idealistic vibe is bundled up snow bunny, I end up rocking more of the practical yet frumpy marshmallow look. In order to solve this fashion crisis, I've taken time to put forth effort by adding some chicness to my winter attire and have since been loving the sparkle of personality it gives my once bland outfits.

Play with the details
Although I've been feeling the grey monotone look as of recent, I still like to mix it up with a clash and match of colors and prints as it can make outerwear become instantly stylish. Articles that layer to make a statement while also keeping the body warm are your typical thick scarf, a pair of gloves or socks, vests, and headwear if you're into that. Playing with contrasts and textures of these pieces creates interest and eye appeal for a more sophisticated, heightened element to your look.

Accessorize yourself
I love the simplicity of an oversized sweater paired with leggings but sometimes feel it is a bit too basic for certain moods. A wrist full of stacked bracelets like from Alex and Ani, chunky necklaces, a bold watch from Pragnell jewelers, or a big pair of glasses with a funky frame develops lots of character without compromising comfort. A staple handbag also works wonders, and for this fashionable effect I adore totes or satchels with enough room to hold bulky gloves and scarves.

Walking art
If layering neutrals just isn't your thing, going for a bright peacoat or patterned snow boots contrasts the white weather to elevate your winter wardrobe. Going bold with the basics of the outfit is a great way to add tons of personality, and also makes maintaining a style so effortless once the shopping is done. For new ideas on what to wear, I find tons of inspiration from various independent fashion blogs, tumblr, or the ever trendy Polyvore.
