Part of the popular Baby Lips family, the Dr. Rescue line offers a medicated, ultra-hydrating version in six natural lip tints. The shade that I picked up is called Just Peachy, which is a sheer, warm, medium peach shade with pink undertones. Maybelline's website description for this product claims the naturally medicating eucalyptus and icy menthol ingredients give a slight cooling sensation that soothes and moisturizes chapped, sore lips. Although it feels smooth like a balm, the light color appears a bit drying on my lips and settles into fine lines, giving an almost cakey look if they are not properly exfoliated beforehand. The texture is thin and it tends to slide around and wear easily, especially on the inner part of the lips. It has a true menthol scent similar to Vick's Vapor Rub as well as a brief, slight tingling feeling, but I didn't find either particularly offensive. Overall I feel underwhelmed by this line, especially because the colors are so pretty when swatched but on the lips they fall short. The formula and lasting power are both poor, the texture is almost greasy, and I don't find it to be particularly soothing either. I much prefer the original Baby Lips line as they offer for a more pigmented version of a hydrating balm with a better formula.
