Just in time for fall, I discovered Lush's Lip Tint in Latte which is the bronze addition to their growing color collection. Described as a pale, coffee colored balm, Latte gives a natural, demure look and is packed with natural moisturizers that soften the lips.
This shade doesn't photograph half as beautiful as it looks in person. It's an almost metallic rose gold/bronze mix with warm pink undertones, high shine, and tiny shimmering sparkles. The associate at the store thought it might wash out my pale complexion, but surprisingly it worked for me. I feel like Latte one of those unique shades that either works to flatter your skin tone or looks a bit off. I would say it would be safe to go for it if most gold and pink makeup compliments your skin tone.
This lip tint reminds me of a pressed lipstick as it's thick and textured but easily smooths out. The soft texture absorbs into the lips like a balm would and gives that pouty appearance as the color catches light. Despite the impressive ingredient list, the formula isn't hydrating enough for my taste. I noticed that it would emphasize any flakes or dry patches if I didn't exfoliate or moisturize before applying.
As with most Lush products, this vegan lip tint is filled with either natural ingredients or safe synthetics. The base is made up of moisturizers including almond oil, japan wax, and organic jojoba oil. The other ingredients which are icing sugar, fairtrade coffee, and vanilla are tossed in for a creamy flavor that to me smells like a mixture of dark espresso and cocoa butter.
Latte can be applied formally with a lip brush, but my favorite way is dabbing and smoothing it on with a finger. It is easily buildable to create a more intense color, ranging from a subtle gold sheen to a bold bronze pout. This is also a great layering product on top of other complimentary shades such as MAC Shy Girl, or as a contrast to add a metallic sheen to a matte color.
This product is easy to wear as it absorbs quickly and stays put, making it smooch and smudge-proof. On bare lips it lasted about four hours with some noticeable wear and a small amount of settling in fine lines.
I absolutely love the shade Latte as it's unique and unlike anything I have. It looks simply beautiful in person as the warm bronze shimmers flatter my skin tone, and the reflective quality makes my lips appear soft and luscious. It's not one of those 'put it on and go' balms because of the texture as well as the slight mess a potted product makes, however that never hinders me from wearing it. It's been on my lips since I bought it, and I can't wait to experiment with the dimension of the color more by mixing and matching with other lipsticks.
Have you tried any of the Lush lip tints?
