Hollywood's Iconic Brows
They say the eyebrows are the frame of the face.
While they are very important for that reason, they are also a trendy way to express who we are.
I'm focusing on classic celebrities specifically. The women who shined on the stage and who stole hearts; all while looking stunningly unique in their makeup. Back in the 'old' Hollywood times, a dramatic brow would enhance the visuals of the film or photograph by altering the face to capture different emotions portrayed by the star. Shaving off the eyebrows was also a very common practice so that a more artistic shape could be drawn in for varying roles.

Back in the 'old' Hollywood times, a dramatic brow would enhance the visuals of the film or photograph by altering the face to capture different emotions portrayed by the star. Shaving off the eyebrows was also a very common practice so that a more artistic shape could be drawn in for varying roles.
A harsher, more unusual shaped eyebrow worn by Marlene Dietrich, Edif Piaf, Greta Garbo, and Coco Chanel would express a very fashionable, specific, sometimes overly dramatized look. A fuller, lighter, more 'natural' brow worn by Marilyn Monroe, Bridget Bardot, Jayne Mansfield, and Sophia Loren would be seen as very youthful, sexy and carefree.
A manicured eyebrow could also subtly represent status. A thin, clean, well kept brow could embody a higher class appearance. The money was there to keep them well groomed, and the confidence that came along with that allowed the stars to wear an unnatural shape. A more bushy, thick, grown in brow is sort of childlike and effortless; embodying a girl next door look that could bring more relatability to a star.
A strong eyebrow was a feature on the face of classic celebrities that represented individuality, personal style, and allowed a place in the memory of Hollywood royalty.
Here are the stars whose brows were interpreted above.

I hope you enjoyed learning a little bit about makeup history. I personally am fascinated by it and would love to do more posts like this in the future if you all are interested as well.
