Trendy Colored Dip Dye Hair Ideas and Products
A Folical Fad
I'm a fan of the subtle dip dye creations with natural hair tones that are most similar to the ombre effect except more sharp. However, there is something about colored dip dye that is so old school punk yet modern that I can't help but be obsessed. From runways to sidewalks, this trend has been and is taking over in a big way. Pastels and neons are most popular and can range from every shade imaginable.
This is not a trend for the novice as in most cases there is bleach and foiling involved which can be tricky to use on your own head. It is also a really damaging fad because ultimately chemicals are never good for the hair. Be sure to use tons of deep conditioner and minimal heat if trying this trend. The color may come out gorgeous but dry, brittle hair never is.
Although I am not a cosmetologist, I have some hair knowledge and experience with dying my own locks. It's slightly altered from dip dye, however last winter I had created a two toned look using all products from Sally Beauty Supply. You girls know I shop there all the time and it's my go-to place for everything hair related.
I did a coppery red color everywhere except for my bangs which I bleached out and toned until they were almost platinum. This style was so much upkeep I chose to just go all one color again after it had grown out.

Right now one of my absolute favorite hair brands Ion is selling their new line of bright hair color. They are insanely cheap and also semi-permanent so give them a try if you are looking to intensify your look. Every color also comes with a free powder lightener, can't beat that.
Also offered there is the ever so popular Manic Panic dye that is known for it's amazingly eye catching color range. Their lightening kit is also great if you have dark hair that needs to be removed before dying a bright color.
I've even heard of using Kool-Aid to dip dye hair too.
There are so many brands that offer rainbow colored hair dye now, it's all about doing your research, reading the reviews, and deciding which one to choose.
If anyone is interested on how I dye my hair at home, or information on how to actually dip dye yourself, let me know in the comments.
Have you ever thought about trying the dip dye look?

Right now I have bleach blonde bangs and the rest red. I seriously love this but it's just so much upkeep. I get the bangs professionally done and then I dye the rest red myself. It's so a bother. I think I'm gonna actually go all blonde for the summer to start out. I think I will deff try this style cause I'm obsessed too!
ReplyDeleteI can't describe how much I love this trend!! Unfortunately, I have noticed that my hair ends are a little damaged so I wont try this... for now!

ReplyDeleteHey, I'm from Portugal, and I want to know what is that "kool aid dip dyed". Some kind of gelatin that dissolves with water?
