Hair Journey 4.30.12 Update #4
Please read my hair journey so this post will make sense.
The photo above is the length of my hair as of 4.30.12
So after what feels like waiting forever, I finally colored my hair. I wanted to go lighter but it just did not work without more bleaching after the first round, so I just decided to go dark. It was a nice, dark, ashy brown but most of it washed out. It's not a color I love so I'm going to wait a month or two then color it again.
Although dying your hair twice in one week is a huge no-no, it had to be done. Other than that, my hair has been looking and feeling soft and silky this month and slowly losing it's 'bob' shape. My layers are growing out nicely and I think I gained a solid half inch of growth.

Products used:
Ion Daily Solutions Silk Drops
Regis Desigline Curl Lock Leave-in Moisturizer
Coconut Oil
Moroccan Oil
Moroccan Oil
New conditioner- Ion Keratin Smoothing Masque
Routine:
Straightened about 3 times this month
Went a bit product crazy
Deep conditioned with every wash (about every other day/2 days)
Left natural in ponytail
Left natural in ponytail
Health:
80%
Minimal flyaways
Texture is improved after dying
Feels very soft
Random:
Despite sucking out the moisture by dying it twice, my hair feels amazingly smooth
It has been shedding a lot when washing in the shower
It gets somewhat frizzy when I leave it natural
I definitely think coloring it and using more heat damaged it some, but my concoction of products will hopefully restore it this next month
The day after I colored my hair, I slapped on tons of coconut oil and Moroccan oil then left a shower cap on to trap the heat. This helped tremendously and brought life back into my hair.

ReplyDeleteHi Jordan - OMG, when I was reading your first post explaining what happened to you hair.. I swear, I can hear the horror music in my head while I was reading it and kept saying "dont do it, dont do it, dont do it.." lol. My hair has been ripped apart too, coz of my excessive coloring. I was planning to do a hair diary on my blog too. So Im excited you already posting about this, so I can pick up some tips and recommended products from you. Looking at the pics from January to this date, seems like your been growing fast :)

it's cool you're on a hair journey. i'm on one too. i'm black and i can honestly say that curly hair has a mind of its own. i found it pretty inspiring reading your hair story and to know that you've recovered from your relaxer mishap. I think your hair is great just the way it is!
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your hair journey doll... I'm on one of my own too. I've never dyed my hair, but I've really mistreated it with straighteners and curlers, most recently, I burned the sh!t out of my bangs and had to cut off half of them. I've always loved long hair on me, but I'm really thinking of chopping it short for the summer. Actually, just thinking about it makes me anxious lol I don't know why I'm so attached to my hair!!
ReplyDeleteI just read your hair story and i'm so glad that you have decided to share this! I have had my share of hair mishaps too so I can definantley understand. Your hair is looking wonderful and I cant wait to see May.
